The Relationship Theology And Spirituality

What is the relationship between theology and spirituality?

Wayne Grudem in his book Bible Doctrine says that studying theology helps us overcome our wrong ideas. Because there is sin in our hearts and because we are not perfect in the knowledge of the Bible then all of us from time to time refuse to accept some of the teachings of the Bible. Then studied theology helps us to grow as Christians. The more we Know God, about His Word, about the relationship with the world and man, the more we will trust Him and the more we praise Him and the more we obey Him. Studying theology will make us become more mature Christians. If this does not happen then we do not learn in the way God intended. Grudem also said that the theology that is what teaches the entire bible implies application to life. The point is that all doctrine has practical value of Christian living.

Calvin in the Institutes of Christian religion book says that knowledge of God relates to knowledge of self. Knowing a good God make us aware of ourselves is bad and leads to humility. Calvin writes “For this sense of the divine perfections is the proper master to teach us Piety, out of the which religion springs. By Piety I mean That union of reverence and love to God the which the knowledge of his benefits inspires. “”The effect of our knowledge rather ought to be, first to teach us reverence and fear; and secondly to induce us, under its guidance and teaching, to ask every good thing from him, and Pls it is received, ascribe it to him”

The conclusion that theology has to do with piety. Theology should make us humble, to love God, obey Him, fear Him, making spirituality grow, make adult.
